Now that telecommunication is set to block sim cards that are not duely linked with NIN, it will be important to check if your SIM is well linked with your NIN, so that you won’t fall victim.
MTN Nigeria and others have issued statement that phone lines who are not linked with NIN will be barred from using the network on or before 28 February, 2024.

How to Check NIN Status on MTN
There are two ways to check if NIN has been linked to your MTN line; either via the provided ussd code or with help of MTNNG mobile application.
USSD method
Dial *996#
Select option 4 (View NIN status)
Press 1 to check the status.
You will receive an SMS upon request.
Using myMTN APP
The MTN App is yet another way to check if your NIN has been linked to your line successfully…
Download and launch the App
Login with your MTN phone number and confirm OTP sent to your phone number
Click on the profile image at the left top of the page
The verified status will be boldly written with a blue mark beside it.
GLO NIN Status Check Code
To see if your GLO line and your NIN are connected,
Dial *996#
Select 1 (check the NIN status)
Your NIN status—whether it is linked or not—will appear on your phone’s display.
How to Check NIN Status on 9mobile
The following steps can be taken by 9mobile customers to see if their NIN has been linked and verified:

You will receive a confirmation message after checking to let you know whether or not your NIN has been linked.
Airtel NIN Status Check
Dial *548#
Input your 11 digit NIN number and send it.
On submission, you will receive a confirmation SMS that states vividly that either your NIN has been linked to your line or not. If the sim you are checking the status for is a new sim card, you will as well receive a message that your NIN was used to register that number.
With the above, you’ll know if your phone line will be block by February next year or not.
