Instagram is rolling out a new update that gives user the ability to pin up to three posts, including photos or Reels, to the top of your profile. Just like pinned posts on TikTok and Twitter, they’ll sit at the forefront of your Instagram grid as if you recently posted them.
The new feature will give creators more flexibility to express themselves on their profiles. Here is how it works.
You can use the feature by selecting one of your posts or reels and then tapping the three dots at the top-right corner of the post. From there, hit Pin to your profile. When you return to your profile, you’ll see your post at the top-left corner of your grid with a white pin icon.
“Your profile is your space, so we’re looking for more ways to give you control over that experience,” said Instagram head Adam Mosseri in a video posted to his social channels about the new feature.
Pinned posts have been in the works since at least the beginning of this year. Reverse-engineer Alessandro Paluzzi first spotted the feature back in January, and Instagram formally announced a test in April.
The ability to pin a specific post to your profile is a welcome feature for users who want to highlight their favorite posts that may have been buried somewhere farther down in their photo grid.
The feature is rolling out globally beginning from today.
