A new changes is rolling out on WhatsApp that changes the way you view media and video visibility on the chatting app.
The company is rolling out an update as reported by WABETAInfo to its Android and iOS apps that prevents auto-saving disappearing media to your phone’s gallery. This is to ensure a better privacy experience when using disappearing messages and to help keep media more private in disappearing chat threads.
This change comes to all users on WhatsApp for Android and the same changes on WhatsApp for iOS, where the option “Save to Camera Roll” is automatically turned off for disappearing chats.
What this means is that images, videos, and GIFs are never automatically saved in your camera roll if the general setting is enabled. However, you can still save media manually in disappearing chats. Although, some users on certain versions of Android already have an option to manually save media. On WhatsApp for iOS, you can save media as normally.
These changes should appear within the next 24 hours.
When I see companies that are committed to making their products more engaging and secured I applaud them.
Kudos to team WhatsApp 😊
