Following the suspension of the end-client charging for money related exchanges through USSD channel by Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), MTN Nigeria has revealed its arrangements on the USSD debate.
As per an announcement gave by the telecom provider, it is prepared to connect with partners in the business so as to discover an answer for the issue.
MTN explained that the choice to caution clients through SMS warnings was because of its responsibility to straightforwardness as the messages were sent after it got formal solicitations from individual banks and the Body of Bank CEOs to actualize end-client charging.
According to MTN the arranged N4 for 20 seconds of USSD access had been suspended following interview with industry partners, client input and media reports.
This pursues the exchanging of faults from the banks and the telcos over the USSD charges. The banks CEOs had prevented having information from claiming the telcos charging clients for USSD administrations while the telcos expressed that it was the banks that guided them to do as such.
Going ahead, the telco said expenses related with USSD banking services should be charged to the customer just once – similarly as with other USSD based services.
