NCC Expects to Release New Price for Data

We earlier hinted that you’ll soon start paying more for data bundles and calls if Section 24 of cybercrime 2015 Act is implemented here.

The Nigeria Communication Commission (NCC) is looking to release a new price for data, Prof. Umar Danbatta, the Executive Vice Chairman of NCC, has said.

Danbatta made the disclosure on Thursday during his induction as a Fellow of the Nigeria Academy of Engineering (NAE).

new price for data

What this means is that if NCC eventually release new data price, and If the Cybercrime Prohibition and Prevention Act 2015 are eventually implemented, then you’ll likely be getting 250MB for N1000 to last you for 30 days. While calls may be charged at 1naira/sec,  10MB data plan may now go for N100 to last you for a day.

But don’t expect anything cheaper than what you are already paying for data.

Data plans and call tariff are already on the high side, and the fear is Telecom Companies in Nigeria will have no choice than to adhere to the new data price rule from NCC.
