You’ll recall that earlier this month, we reported that NCC directed all Telecom operators in the country to implement data rollover beginning from June 26th.
It appears this is gradually coming into existence. According to NCC twitter handle, the implementation has begun and all Telecom operators including Airtel, 9mobile, Glo and MTN will allow you to use your expired or unfinished data bundle in the following month.
2. Issuance of Direction to Service Providers on Data rollover which now enables consumers to roll over unused data for 1- 7 days depending on your data plan. This takes effect from 26th of June, 2018.

Based on NCC’s directive, a new rule is now applicable to allow data rollover on un-used main data bundle when they renew their bundles after expiry or buy another bundle of the same category within the specified roll over period below,
MTN, with the largest subscribers data base, has immediately implement how it data rollover will work.
Data Category | Validity | Roll Over Period |
Daily bundles | 1 Day | 1Day |
Weekly bundles | 3 Days | 3 Days |
Monthly bundles | 7 Days | 7 Days |
How Does it Work?
Daily Bundle: If you have subscribe for a daily plan on June 26, the expiry day is June 27 but you will still have another 24 hours to subscribe – June 28 – as Grace Period.
Weekly Bundle: For weekly bundle, you have extra 3 days to subscribe a new bundle before your data balance is wiped out.
Monthly Bundle: For monthly bundle, you have extra 7 days to subscribe a new bundle before your data balance is wiped out.
Note: You data balance is expected to still be working during this Grace Period.
We are expecting other Telecom operators to announce how theirs will work.
Opportunity to be zapping people’s data now
Nothing is good in this
NCC should try and make them give us cheap datas
This is a Laudable development.. The big brother have taken the lead, let others follow suit.
It’s almost the same thing. They shouldn’t be grace time. The data suppose to work whenever the subscriber purchased new data.
things are getting better sha, everything is steady steady.
It’s better than nothing. If only 9mobile will follow suit on this their 3 days data plan or make complete 72hour’s .
Still sound greedy…MTN is wise, very wise
In the end what’s the difference?…..it will have been better, if there is no expiring date
Always ahead in their game
hmmm. nice one.
Good, nice one
Good one MTN taking the lead on this… I hope others follow
this one na grace or grave?….mtcheww still unfair
Hmmm. Sounds Nice. Still need something better and big
One step at a time, still better than nothing
Two weeks extension is preferable. At least we got something
glo best cheap data. 33gb for 3000 naira valid 2 months. interested inbox
Fair enough
While subscribing you will be asked if you want auto renewal or just one time sub. That’s nice
Don’t think the data can last till the added date cause the data always zap
I see no sense in dis…I hope they r nt talking about the data dat doesn’t even last for a month
It is long overdue. It’s a great move from mtn. Always the first!
