All Data Bundle Must be Valid For 3yrs Said NCC in S.A

This is what they call Gobe! Actually in south Africa, National
Consumer Commission (NCC) has stated unequivocally that data bundles in South
Africa must have a minimum expiry period of three years.

In Nigeria, you’ll recall that sometime last year, NCC vow to issue a directive to all telcos to give subscribers 14 days grace period
after data expiration. Meaning 1.5GB data should last you 44 days if at all you are unable to exhaust it before that day.

But NCC in S.A took a new turn and want data bundle
expiration to be extended to 3 years. Though I don’t know the kind of data
bundle they are using if it get exhausted before 30 days expiration or not but
some other persons are of the opinion that data bundle should be extended to 90
days.

Here we are complaining that 14 days extra grace period is
too much since you can actually finish 5GB data in less than a week. Extending
data bundle validity period for 3 years is complete madness putting on skirt
dancing along the street.
Participants at the hearing said the matter would end up in
court anyway, to which the NCC accepted a suggestion that it should seek a High
Court ruling on this legislation before it is implemented in regulation.

  1. 3 years? Dats crazy. For me though i think 60 days is ok. But our main problem here in naija is not d validity. Its d cost. Still too expensive compared to other African countries

  2. to me i see nothing bad in d 3 years of a thing, sometimes u will sub when i get to a point u will not see wot to use it for bt because the expiry days is just around d corner you will start downloading anything u see without thinking may be u need it or not……my own suggestion is that naija telecom should follow samething. increase the mgabyt we are using nd make the price drop down small and also remove the expiry period of a thing so we can use till when we exusted it. i remember sometimes ago around 2003 if u recharge 500 on ur phone dey will give u about 7days after that 7days u will not be able to use it till u recharge again den nothing like 100 naira card like now, u will av like 480 on ur phone u wnt be able to use it, u will rather visit phone call shop, bt now nothing like that, why cant them do the same thing with data plan? God help us in dis country ooo

  3. Extending the validity of data plan doesn't make any sense from my own point of view…We need good data plans like 1k for 10gb….
