The Redmi Note 2 runs on MediaTek’s 64-bit octa-core HelioX10 processor, which Engadget points
out is the same chip found in HTC’s One M9+ phablet. The new phone also packs a
5.5-inch 1080p display, a removable 3060mAh battery, a 13-megapixel rear
camera, a 5-megapixel front-facing camera, 32GB of expandable storage, 2GB of
RAM, but no NFC. It’s the first device to run Xiaomi’s new MiUI 7 software out
of the box.

Xiaomi took time to post Antutu scores of the Redmi Note 2
compared to those of rival phones. Xiaomi claim an Antutu score of 54,042
for the Redmi Note 2 in comparison to 47,032 on the Huawei P8 and 49,144 for
the Meizu MX5.

Camera specifications are impressive for the budget phone
too. The rear camera being a 13 mega-pixel CMOS sensor from Samsung and the
front a 5 mega-pixel OV model. What is really shocking though is the inclusion
of PDAF (Phase Detection Auto Focus) on the Redmi Note 2! This could be the most
affordable phone with the super fast auto focus feature!
